Party Co Leader, Caroline Lucas, will pay a flying visit to Hexham next week after speaking in Durham on Thursday night.
Ms Lucas will visit The Boatside Inn at Warden on Friday 9th December to meet Tynedale Green Party members and local candidate Wesley Foot; she is expected to discuss how last year’s flooding affected the area and the response to her recent questions to government on funding for Natural Food Management (NFM) methods.
Warden resident Wesley Foot, who will stand as Green Party candidate in next year’s County Council Election, said: “I’m looking forward to meeting Caroline who is a much respected and hard-working MP. Among other things we’ll be talking about the potential of natural flood management methods in this region to prevent the kind of flooding we seem to experience in Warden on a regular basis. NFM methods are more sustainable, good value for money, prevent flooding and also benefit the natural environment in the long term. Caroline Lucas recently questioned the government over their response to last year’s flooding, reminding them of their stated support for alternative flood prevention methods .This week the government committed £15 million which is welcome but inadequate when spread across the country.”
The Green Party Co Leader will visit The Boatside in Warden between 11.30am and 1pm to see the improvements made to flood-proof the building since last year. She will then meet local Green Party members for an informal lunch.
